Bruce Smith, author of the award-winning middle-grade series, Legend Keepers

Below are some fun stuffed animals that would be a great accompaniment to the Legend Keepers books, as they are some of the characters in the Legend Keepers series. When I give book presentations, I sometimes bring one of these as a sidekick and to peak kids’ attention!

Ada Brooks, author of the upcoming memoir, Not Enough, available March 2023

Dana Stewart Quinney, author of the 2019 Idaho Book of the Year, Wildflower Girl

Roadside Geology of Idaho, 2nd Edition, by Link, Willsey, and Schmidt.

There’s a Roadside Geology book available for almost every state, and they are wonderful for understanding the basics of your state!  How did that lake come into being?  Why is the soil in this area so rich?  When did that mountain range rise?  This series of books will answer all your questions.

The newest Idaho book in the series is possibly the very best (look at all the 5-star reviews)!

Great ideas and universal building blocks–perfect for the writer on your list!

Save the Cat! Writes a Novel: The Last Book On Novel Writing You’ll Ever Need

Quirkily pretty and useful for someone who wants to get out into the wild and needs a handy bag for a notebook, phone, keys, etc.–something big enough but not too big.  These bags can be worn at the hip or as cross-body bags. I love the many wild-creature designs!

3-in-1 bag from Sipsey Wilder

Bee-u-tee-ful maps of many states and regions, maps that look 3-D (but are flat), printed on quality paper–just the thing to add rustic charm and interest to any room, especially a library!

Vintage Relief Map

Ann Marie Stewart, author of two award-winning novels; Out of the Water and Stars in the Grass

We have a family joke, “I don’t need stuff.” To me, “stuff” is just unnecessary additions to our lives. We try to opt for gifts that are consumable, re-usable, or earth friendly.

Handmade greeting cards where 100% of the profit goes to a non-profit in Mississippi. I know the artist and when I send one of these cards, my recipients are deeply touched. Check them out on ETSY — Preppypaperworks.

Silver or gold shawl for those special holiday dresses that need a little cover

Metallic Pashmina Scarf

Stasher Reusable Silicone Bags. I now star my plastic ziplocks in the GARAGE and keep the silicone reusable bags handy so that I become accustomed to using them.  These also make great starter gifts.

Blueland ECO cleaning products.  I have switched over to using products with less waste, trash, garbage landfill material.  LOVE their products. The various refillable jars are attractive and a great starter gift.

Great hospitality gift:  We love opening the box around the dining room table and getting a conversation going.

TableTopics Dinner Party Edition

The beginning of the year is a good time to re-think things…..with a good book. And THIS one really is!!!!

Digital Minimalism

Reusable Dishcloths – I have also taken away all paper towels and use small dishcloths or any kind of re-usable towel.

Antonia Gavrihel, author of the Back to One Series

Cate & Kyle are quickly becoming readers’ favorite relatable “friends.” Along with a copy of the novels, Back to One and the newest release in the Back to One Series, Ambient Light, how about sporting your favorite characters’ “story”!

Charming this time of the year are tree ornaments for each novel

Seth Lowen, author of Land of Shadows, available spring 2023!

 Black Leviathan

Black Leviathan is an extraordinary novel that I happened to stumble across. My brothers and I all decided we would pick a random book from Barnes and Noble with only reading the synopsis on the cover. It ended up being a great fantasy/sci-fi book with wonderful world building, monstrous creatures, and lovable characters. It’s a great gift for those young adult bookworms in your family.
Elden Ring is the newest game developed by FromSoftware and is already an instant masterpiece. I’ve always enjoyed FromSoftwares games such as Dark Souls and Sekiro, but the newest dark fantasy world they’ve created was enough to keep me enthralled for countless hours. Elden Ring is the perfect gift for any gamers you know that haven’t already picked it up.

Legend Keepers in the News

The Legend Keepers Series has won three awards due to its uniquely crafted narrative and important message– a blend of fantasy and fiction promoting an environmental message!

“I blended what we know about animals from research, and what we would like to know about animals but don’t — the stuff we imagine and wish we knew,” he said. “As a novelist, I have this freedom that I don’t have as a scientist writing nonfiction.”

Celebrating the Earth and Environmental Education: A Message From Our Kids’ Future

Science has the wonderful capacity to open young minds to possibilities. It prompts them to ask questions about the world they live in, especially the “how” and “why” questions.

I also believe that literature can enhance classroom science education. Both nonfiction and fiction—including eco-fiction—convey engaging and evocative examples of science in action. Such storytelling helps both young and old to see what’s possible. Stories inspire us to imagine what could be. We need to be able to imagine, to dream of the future we want. Only then can we seek and achieve it. This is our shared responsibility to future generations, and to planet Earth.
