“Such an unusual story . . . hard to figure what would come next. These boys were rascals!”
– Trinette Weber

“The adventure carries you along like you are living all the excitement. Imaginative and entertaining . . . a great read for young and old.”
– Judy Fletcher

“Our family enjoyed reading it out loud, with geat animation, although the silent reader would have no problem creating a vivid picture in their mind’s eye . . . difficult to put down.”
– A. Kovacs

Meet The Authors

Cameron Ventura

“I’ve made my living as a filmmaker, often writing scripts for screen and television commercials. In my early twenties, I wrote my first short story on an old antique Underwood, a real commitment to get that ink on the page. When I created the characters of Calvin Poag and his best friend, James Nelson, residents of the fictitious mountain town of Mud Lake, I was bitten by the bug. These two adventurous young teens taught me the wonderful journey of writing fiction.”

Dennis Mansfield

Dennis Mansfield has long been a passionate man of progress, from his time at West Point to a bid for the U.S. Congress. When he and his wife’s beloved son, Nate, passed away suddenly, Dennis changed his life’s course from personal ambition to helping others. “You might say that it sharpened my perspective and gave me clarity about what is truly important.” Whether coaching business executives, speaking at an event, or writing a book, Dennis has focused on imparting courage to others, helping them overcome challenges that might hamper success in business, in relationships, in life.

Dennis and his wife, Susan, have enjoyed traveling the world together, but they’re happiest riding bikes along the Boise River greenbelt . . . and being with their children and grandchildren.

Black History – On This Day in 1959

The Norfolk 17–February 2, 1959
Sixty-five years ago today, seventeen cautiously brave Black teenagers rocked the foundation of the racist South, accomplishing what many at the time had thought impossible … ending segregation at six public schools in Norfolk, Virginia. If getting there had been a war, being there was horrendous.
